Dear Friends:
The new year has brought a myriad of things into my realm of activity. (Well, maybe not a myriad as I looked it up and that means 10,000!) There has been a prolonged “Arctic Blast” in South Alabama where the office is located. Thankfully that has passed and only normal Winter is still here. In a time of freezing outside, my inside freezer decided it had worked long enough. I tried a questionable repair, which kept it running for a week, but ended up having to get a new one. In early January my sister-in-law, whom I regularly help with her physical problems, broke one of her big toes and almost cut it off. Then in early February she broke the heel on the same foot. At the same time her husband began seeing double and could not drive, so another sister-in-law and I have been helping taxi them to doctor/hospital appointments. They live over an hour away from us, so you see how that can take a lot of time out of the day. This has resulted in a lot of office hours at night.
Before I forget to include this, I want to thank you all for your generous gifts to the ministry and to me personally during Christmas. That includes the greetings I received in January as that is my birth month—now 82. Growing up, because my birthday came within two weeks of Christmas, I always knew I would receive a new pair of shoes (which was usually needed). I did go shopping for shoes but could not find a pair that “looked like me”. I will try again soon.
An internet radio station in NC that shut down during COVID has reopened and is again airing A Fisherman’s 5-Minute Look at the Book and The Mariner’s Call. A listener from WV wrote to say, “I love your 5-Minute Look at the Book”. A young man from Louisiana wrote saying he had received a tract and had become a Christian. I sent him some helpful printed material, especially Anchors of the Faith, and he responded that it helped him by answering a lot of his questions about salvation and what happens next. A missionary in the Philippines who had worked for many years to set up Christian radio stations has taken the pastorate of his home church in Maryland, so it is uncertain if the FOMMI broadcasts will continue to be heard in Cebu and Paranaque, Manila.
The Bible Schools in India, Bangladesh and the Philippines continue to train the next generation. One Bible School graduate from the Philippines surrendered to become a missionary to Indonesia. The third floor of the home base building in Bangladesh continues to be built as funds are provided. Some work accidents have also impeded progress. The long-awaited national election in Bangladesh should come to pass soon.
A final thought for you shows the potential of partnership. An experiment was conducted comparing a draft horse’s individual pulling power with that of a team. Eight thousand pounds was the maximum a single animal could pull, but two horses working together pulled up to thirty-two thousand pounds! The synergy of teamwork accomplished more than individual effort. Thank you for joining me to fulfill 1 Corinthians 3:9, “For we are laborers together with God…”.
Sincerely,
Lenora Mund
