Dear Friends:
As 2025 draws to a close there are several end-of-year things to tell you about or remind you to do. First, I am enclosing a Bible Reading Schedule for your use in 2026. I hope you will use it, or another one, to at least filter the world through the Word of God once in the year. Next I remind contributors that your final contribution for 2025 must be in our office no later than Wednesday 12/31/25. With the slow-downs of the USPS, mail is not always delivered timely. Any contributions received after 12/31/25 will be credited to 2026, and therefore not eligible for use as a tax deduction in 2025.
Although we in the USA are out of hurricane season, other parts of the world are still experiencing damaging storms. Bro. Jeph in the Philippines has endured two major typhoons with both causing roof damage and subsequent building flooding. They had barely gotten the roof repaired after the first typhoon when another came along and did similar damage. However, they rejoice that their building is structurally strong and they know how to “mop”. One of the pictures shows the five Bible school graduates and teachers for the 2025 term.
Bro. Lemon in Bangladesh says they are having very unstable days, even as you can see through news reports. He is postponing baptismal services for new converts until after the election. One of the pictures shows progress on the third floor of the building. Several workers were injured when working, so progress slowed down for a time. It looks like the increased cost of building will require more funds to complete the third floor. The Bible school and all the elementary schools in the mission river churches are running well. A lot of 2025 was used in the writing of Bro. Lemon’s thesis for his DRE. It has been completed and submitted at this time.
Our co-worker in a restricted access nation reports damage from a cyclone (hurricane/typhoon/cyclone), again causing roof damage. Many homes were destroyed as most of them live in small huts. An entire family has been saved stemming from their children attending a VBS. Their Bible school students are still zealously reaching out to the lost and seeing results. (Oh, for the zeal of youth!)
There continue to be many requests for Anchors of the Faith. It is a mystery how inmates from far away know to ask for it. (Just recently we had a request from a Naval Brig in California.) Bro. Vick is still reaching out in the Escambia County Jail of Pensacola, Florida.
Besides the pictures I want to include, I thought I would bring a smile to your face through an article on AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder). Here goes.
This is how it manifests: I decided to wash my car. As I started toward the garage, I noticed that there was mail on the hall table. I decided to go through the mail before I washed the car. I laid my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trashcan under the table, and noticed that the trashcan was full. So, I decided to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first. But then I thought, since I’m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I took my checkbook off the table and saw that there was only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I went to my desk where I found a bottle of Coca-cola that I had been drinking. I’m looking for my checks, but first I needed to push the Coke aside so that I didn’t accidentally knock it over. I saw that the Coke was getting warm, so I decided to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I headed toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter caught my eye—they needed to be watered, so I set the Coke down on the counter and I discovered my reading glasses that I had been searching for all morning. I decided I better put them back on my desk but first I needed to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, filled a container with water and suddenly I spotted the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realized that tonight we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decided to put it back in the den where it belonged, but first I must water the flowers. I splashed some water on the flowers, but most of it spilled on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, got some towels and wiped up the spill.
Then I headed down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day the car isn’t washed, the flowers aren’t watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can’t find the remote, I can’t find my glasses, and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys. When I tried to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I’m really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, but first I’ll check my email!
